With the school summer holidays having just begun, it seems timely to share reader Pat Fowler's interesting postcard of Weymouth.

Pat, of Redlands, said she was interested to read some of the memories of Weymouth beach we have been sharing recently.

She writes: "I also grew up in Weymouth and I remember those times. I've enclosed an old postcard of the bandstand, which shows the 'Kelly's boats'.

"How interesting to see the bandstand packed with sunbathers and probably a summer show, I remember those and they had folding 'director' type chairs that were put away so we could roller skate."

Pat tells us this card dates to about 1950 when the resort was still home to sailors and soldiers in uniform.

She writes: "These were the days of the 'new look' fashion, how elegant all the ladies look - but where are all the children? (We were probably on the sands!)"

Thanks so much to Pat for sharing this much welcome sun-soaked memory.
