A larger than life Halloween is being celebrated at a Weymouth trader's house.

Dennis Spurr of The Fantastic Sausage Factory isn't telling porkies when he describes himself as a fan of Halloween.

His at home display in Seven Acres Road, Preston, Weymouth, consists of superheroes, movie characters and even a NASA space rocket.

People are invited to come and see the display in all its glory for Halloween before it is dismantled.

Dorset Echo:

Everyone is invited to go along and take a look at the unusual display.

Donations are encouraged in memory of Frank, Dennis's French bulldog, which died earlier this year. Money will be raised for the Phoenix Trust, a French bulldog charity.

Dennis said: "In this difficult world with everything going on, we want to give people something to smile about.

"As soon as you come up Seven Acres Road you can see the Hulk 7ft tall and you can't help but smile.

Dorset Echo:

"We've already had lots of cars full of kids coming up and having their picture taken with them. It's all socially distanced and if people want they can just drive by without getting out of their car."

Today between 5.30pm and 7pm Dennis will be adding a ‘special’ spooky room with extra spooks and treats for youngsters - all socially distanced.

Dennis said: "I'm going to be in Halloween costume and my garage is going to become Frank's Haunted House. If anyone wants to walk up the driveway, it will be Covid safe and people can pick up some sweets from the table."

The extraordinary display has already raised more than £1,000 for the Phoenix Trust.

"For me it's not about the money it's about coming and having a smile," Dennis said.

Dorset Echo:

"I'm out the front all the time greeting people while social distancing, people enjoy coming to chat.

"We just want to give people something to be cheerful about in a difficult year."

Dennis's place isn't the only spot in town where Halloween is in full swing.

Dorset Echo:

As you can see, Finns pub in Weymouth - which is holding a Halloween fancy dress competition tonight - has gone to town with its spooky display.
