These brochure pictures designed to entice tourists to Weymouth in the 1920s are fascinating.

The photos were used by British Rail to promote the best of 1920s Weymouth - encouraging passengers to make a stop in the resort.

The images were unearthed by Terry Gale after he came across them in his vast collection of shots of the town.

Dated 1924 - although some appear as though they could be earlier - they were used by the rail company as publicity shots to advertise the routes on the line.

The 11 shots are crystal clear, thanks to the glass negatives they were taken off, and the quality allows us a chance to really get an idea of what the resort was like nearly 100 years ago.

At the time he unearthed the images, Terry said: "It was going back about 20 years ago, or perhaps more, and I went to a miniature railway show in Bournemouth.

"At the back of the hall they had a section with glass negatives of images from one of their early publicity drives, I suppose to show people the different stops on the line.

"When I saw these I couldn't believe what I was looking at."
