This atmospheric view looks west from North Quay.
You can see a train to Portland labouring up the bank to Rodwell station and in the backwater a small number of boats contrast with today's busy scene.
Westwey Road has not yet been built, nor have the major extensions to the gasworks of 1932 - but in the present day these have now been removed.
