Who remembers this shop at Franklin Road in Weymouth?
It was the end of an era when the shop closed in 1978 and was converted to flats.
This photograph, taken some time during the Great War, portrays four women in front of the general store that used to supply, among others, troops from Australia and New Zealand.
Thomas Drake used to run the shop after buying it in 1966. He found this picture under the staircase at the shop.
Mr Drake said at the time: “Mrs Hill, who ran the shop, and her mother are the two older women on the right. Maude Watkins was one of the younger women and we could not find out who the fourth one was.”
