MORE glamour this week from Geoff and Liz Chapman who, judging by these photographs, spent much of their heyday rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous in Weymouth.

Beauty queens, television entertainers and actresses all came to the resort and, as these images show, Geoff was there to capture them on film.

Lesley Langley was the Weymouth-born Miss World, who won her crown in 1965. She married jazz organist Alan Haven and had a small role in the James Bond film Goldfinger.

She is pictured here with Phil Gollop looking on in the background. She was also the cover star of Weymouth’s official holiday guide in 1967.

The large group shot was taken in 1965 when Hughie Green was performing at Weymouth Pavilion for the summer season. The mayor at the time was Tony Holland and the other people pictured include Arthur Pigeon, Albert Bown, Charlie Bell and Lucie Hill.

Actress Janette Scott is pictured in 1964 outside Weymouth’s Pier bandstand with Brian Elliot, then manager of the Gaumont Cinema.

Janette, who was married three times including to American jazz musician Mel Torme, is the daughter of Thora Hird. She appeared in films including Went The Day Well, School for Scoundrels and The Day of the Triffids and as you can see from the posters in the picture, was in town to promote the film The Beauty Jungle which was playing at the Odeon cinema.

The fourth picture is of Geoff and Liz on holiday in Palma, Majorca with the Cheesmans and Cloughs from Weymouth.
