ACTOR Joe Sims promised more twists and turns as the Broadchurch crime drama builds up to its finale.

The Bristolian, who plays plumber Nigel Carter in the hit ITV drama, said there were more thrills in store over the final two episodes.

He also paid tribute to fans and locals for making Broadchurch such a smash with an average of nine million viewers.

Mr Sims said all the clues to the identity of the killer are in the episodes so far.

He added: “There are so many thrills to come.

“There are a lot of exciting twists and turns in store.”

Joe’s character, plumber Nigel, was voted at the top of a recent Dorset Echo poll into the identity of the murderer of Danny Latimer in the prime time show.

Joe said it was a pleasure to shoot at West Bay and that although he had been to several places in Dorset, he had never been to the harbour before.

“It was a fantastic place to film.

“When we got the weather, there was no place like it.”

Joe thanked local people for their support and patience during filming as well as viewers for making the show such a hit.

He said that the cast and crew were aware that they were making something special but were really thankful to the public for taking it to heart.

“We are really grateful to people in Bridport and West Bay.

“There were traffic jams and other inconveniences while were filming but they were so welcoming and amenable.”

Joe stayed at the Bridport Arms at West Bay at times but said the cast and crew also used to meet up at the Bull Hotel in Bridport and go out in the town.

“Everyone at the Bridport Arms could not do enough for you.

“You really felt part of it and part of the community.”

Joe said that the cast and crew spent four months together and were very close. He is due to meet up with Arthur Darvill, who plays the Rev Peter Coates, soon but had also been in touch with Olivia Colman.

He congratulated her on receiving two Bafta nominations last week for her roles in Twenty Twelve and Accused (Mo’s Story).

Joe said: “Everyone is really close.

“I rang Olivia to congratulate her. She is as nice a person as she is an incredible actress.”

Joe said that David Tennant was very friendly as well and went out of his way to introduce Joe to everyone when he first arrived on set.

He added: “Everybody really clicked and we got on really well.”
