I WOULD like to thank the kind stranger who stopped to help me in the wet and foggy dark on the A35 on Tuesday, September 12. He had what is probably a Dutch accent.

He drew up when I was stranded on the sloping verge, facing the wrong way, having missed the entrance to the road opposite the Litton Cheney turning, due to poor visibility.

I was in a complete panic, it being towards 10pm but he most kindly put on his hazard lights, suggested I try reversing and guided me as I backed into the turning and then turned around to face the correct way along the lane.

Out of fear that someone else might turn into the lane, I didn’t stop to thank him, only tried to wave.

I do hope either he, or someone who knows him will read this, as many heartfelt thanks are due to him.
