I was elected as a local councillor three years ago and have been on a steep learning curve ever since.

I’ve had the opportunity to get to know many residents and I’ve been massively impressed with the large number who are involved in voluntary work of all kinds.

This really came to the fore during the pandemic when the community rallied round to help in so many ways. Weymouth’s community really do care about local and national issues, the latter being demonstrated recently with the Vigil for Ukraine.

So it’s great to see Weymouth Town Council putting on an event that celebrates the work of all the brilliant community groups that help make Weymouth the fantastic town it is.

Our council is inviting everyone to come together on Saturday 23rd April at the Weymouth Community Expo event to find out what makes Weymouth tick and how to get more involved in local community organisations.

This is a new way of holding our annual town meeting, which we hope will help residents to get more involved. The Expo will enable many local groups to showcase the great work they do and there’s even competitions to win free deckchair hire and a £100 voucher.

We’ll have free family activities including face painting, rock painting and seed-ball making so join us anytime between 12pm and 2.30pm at Redlands Community Sports Centre, Dorchester Road, Weymouth.
