We have experienced a delightful sunny Easter holiday much needed by everyone at this time.

It was pleasing to see young families flocking to our award winning Weymouth Beach. I was concerned to see so many dog owners exercising their dogs off lead on the beach, while young children were playing on the sand and in the waves.

Surely the previous dog restriction from Good Friday onwards ought to be reintroduced, as only one incident of either a dog bite or vision impairment, through contact with dog faeces, would be one too many.

I ask that our council reconsider the rule at the next possible opportunity.

If the potential of life changing tragedy for one child and their family is not sufficient to warrant a change then the economic consequences of the ensuing publicity ought to sway our councillors in the direction of change.
