If the Prime Minister wants to get on with everyday business, he should agree to an investigation by fellow MPs.
If he has nothing to hide, then he has nothing to fear.
If the Prime Minister wants to get on with everyday business, he must be measured by results. Fuel and energy prices are through the roof. Sort it. Rents and house prices are extortionate. Sort it. NHS waiting times are an all-time high. Sort it.
If the Prime Minster wants to get on with everyday business, he must live by the seven principles of public life, the Nolan principles: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
Leadership? The Nolan committee set this out: “Holders of public office should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour and treat others with respect. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.”
Surely MPs of all parties can agree on this.
