Cribbage (or crib) Is an old English card game; the rules of which were first published in 1662.

It has been played in coffee houses and pubs ever since.

The Weymouth Town Cribbage League has been running continuously from the 1960s.

The League is open to licensed premises within the area bordered by Preston (including Sutton Poyntz), Littlemoor, Upwey, Ferrybridge and Knights in the Bottom.

League matches are played as double cribbage with three pairs in each team.

The season will start at the end of September or the beginning of October depending on the number of teams entered and will end in May with ‘Finals Night’ and the presentation of trophies. League games are on Tuesday evenings starting at 8.30pm.

There will be one home and one away game against each other team. Throughout the season we will also hold a team knockout competition and singles, pairs, mixed pairs, and fours knockout competitions.

The last three seasons have been hit hard by Covid, and we are now looking for new teams and new players. If any pub wants to form a team of their locals I can help by providing the rules and perhaps someone to demonstrate the game. If there is anybody who has played in the past, I can put you in touch with teams who are looking for players.
