A DORSET Rotary club has raised more than £1,000 for children’s causes and is hoping to raise more with a sponsored bike ride.
The Rotary Club of Wareham raised the funds in aid of Julia’s House children’s hospice and End Polio Now, a campaign to protect children from the disease, by holding a swimathon at the Purbeck Sports Centre.
The club also organised its annual daffodil party for dozens of local pensioners.
There were 50 elderly residents at the event, who enjoyed sandwiches and cakes with a magician and singer for entertainment.
The club will be holding its second bike ride in aid of Cancer Research UK on September 1 starting at Bovington Tank Museum. To volunteer as a marshal or for more details visit warehamrotary.co.uk
