Hi Readers, it’s Emily and William back together in person sitting on Luccio's balcony in Dorchester.

It feels like we are in the jungle or in Crete with all the foliage around us, and the sun coming through the leaves. It’s lovely.

It’s the first time that we have actually met in person to write a column since February 2020, and it feels really good and nice to meet up again outside. It’s been far too long.

This week we want to share our news over the last month. I, William, have been lucky enough to go on holiday with Jolly Holidays, to the Lake District, an organised trip for people with disabilities. We stayed in a hostel near Kendal and over the week I walked, did archery, rock climbing, canoeing on Lake Windermere, swam, had a campfire with toasted marshmallows, enjoyed a picnic, went to the pub and best of all made lots of friends. I had a great time.

Now I’m back at work that’s been good too.

As for me, Emily, I have been busy with moving into my new home. There’s loads to do like finishing off my bedroom, putting clothes in my wardrobe and a big food shop.

I’ve had a couple of nights sleepover at the house each week, including cooking dinner, which is going well. I’m still working each day, which has been busy as we have more residents. I like that we are moving into the home slowly, learning how to live with each other and of course there are always Adam’s jokes to keep us all going!

I’ve also agreed to go on an Advisory Board with Laura from People First Dorset for Wellcome Connecting Science to help them be more inclusive. We have our first meeting soon so that will be good.

The writers of the Our View column are supported in their editing by The Friendship Club– a project for adults with learning disabilities, run by People First Dorset.
