PRESTON Table Tennis Club’s Christmas party welcomed the visit of England duo Matt Ware and Jamie Trevillion, who carried out a demonstration/exhibition match.
Matt Ware, 21, is currently ranked eighth in the country while Trevillion is a top-50 player despite only being 14. The evening also included refreshments, drinks, games and practice against a table-tennis robot.
Club spokesman Stan Smith said: “Many thanks go to Fernando Cachola for bringing and setting up the table tennis robot and club member Geoff Ware for organising the demonstration.
“It was also great to have Danny Chambers with us for the evening, who was one of the four players that started the club in 2009.”
During the evening, Matt Ware carried out the draw for the quarter finals of the Handicap Team K/O Tournament for the Weymouth and District League where Preston A were drawn against the Hawks.
Matt Ware will be back at the Preston Table Tennis venue with Steve Foster on February 9 when the League Tournament will take place with over 60 players competing in nine competitions.
