HANNAH Hicks proved a big hit with players and officials of the Weymouth & District Table Tennis League at the finals of the annual championships.

The England international, currently ranked number three in the country, wowed spectators with a first-class demonstration, and was ably assisted by Bournemouth Sports’ Nathan Bingham.

The Hampshire defender offered coaching tips to many through the evening and even enjoyed some competitive games against the tournament winners before teaming up with league President Brian Copp to conduct the presentation.

And league secretary Andy Millar was more than pleased how the event, which was held at Westfield Technology Centre, panned out.

He said: “We were delighted with how smoothly the tournament ran this year after moving to a round-robin format for the divisional singles for the first time.

“I believe that was a success and I must thank Stan Smith and his hard-working team of volunteers for organising a very enjoyable event that has been in the planning for months.

“We were also thrilled to have Hannah and Nathan down for the evening and they proved as big a draw as Andy Baggaley last year – we can’t thank them enough for their contribution to a terrific day for all those associated with the league.”
