CHRIS Wilson is confident the Blues possess all the tools to come through the ensuing fixture pile-up as champions.

Title-chasing Portland United lost another match to the weather in midweek and now face the huge challenge of 15 games in 57 days as they look to secure a league and cup double.

Unfortunately, the forecast is also not looking good ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against Poole Borough (3pm) but Wilson is refusing to lose hope among the frustration.

When asked how the Grove Corner pitch is holding up, he told Echosport: “It is probably best for my mental stability that I don’t go up there.

“Losing Wednesday’s game at Swan- age Town & Herston was pretty gutt- ing and to be honest it is all about focus now.

“We have 15 games in 50-odd days and it is going to take a monumental effort from every single one of us.”

He went on to add: “I am confident that everyone knows what is expected of them.

“We are going to devise a programme of how we are going to go about the next eight weeks and with the depth, the experience, the quality and the character we possess, we have all the right things to come through it.

“We are going to have to call on all of that, management included.

“It is not just about the coaching staff and the players either – it is about all the volunteers too.

“We all need to pull together to make sure we end the season with the desired result.”

Joe Toghill, Chris Reader and Adam Linaker are all back available for the Blues and there is also good news regarding Jimmy Dailey, who is expected to return to training next week following a long injury lay-off.

Wilson, whose men sit second, four points adrift of leaders Holt United with three games in hand, said: “We have got players coming back now. Jimmy is not far away and Andy Harris will be back towards the end of the season.

“We are also set to sign Tom Carter, who was our player of the year last season.

“He has been recovering from a bad knee injury and it will be good to have him back.”

Elsewhere in the division, Weymouth Reserves, Chickerell United and Bridport Reserves all face tricky away trips tomorrow (all 3pm).

The Terras go to Parley, who beat Portland last time out, while the Chickens will be up against Wareham Rangers, who have won their last two.

However, it is the Bees that have the toughest test of the lot. They travel to third-placed Wincanton Town, who are on a six-game winning streak.
