DORSET SENIOR LEAGUE

WEYMOUTH Sports and Upwey & Broadwey both face tough home games in the Dorset Senior League tomorrow (3pm).

Chris Hicks’ men are set to entertain table-toppers Mere Town at Weymouth College while Upwey are scheduled to host Westland Sports at Redlands, but with heavy rain forecast there is every chance the two encounters could be postponed.

Weymouth Sports have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes of late but still remain just two points above the bottom two.

Victory at Kingston Lacy and a draw at Stourpaine have reinvigorated the Seasiders but they are going to need something special this weekend in order to get anything out of Mere.

The runaway leaders have lost just once in the league so far this season and currently sit nine points clear at the summit with a game in hand on the two teams below them.

That solitary defeat came against Upwey, who have also been in fine form of late despite a hiccup against Witch-ampton United last time out.

Steve Reynolds’ side still have 13 games to cram in before the end of the season so another postponement would not go down well.

Westland Sports currently sit two points above Upwey in fifth spot but have played five matches more.

Finally, Portland United Reserves are without a fixture. The Blues, who are on a winless run of 13 games, will return to action on March 30 with a trip to basement boys Okeford United.
