PHIL Simkin found it impossible to single out any of his players after an excellent all-round team performance saw off Farnborough last night.

Neil Martin was given the man of the match award but the Dorchester Town boss felt virtually any of his men would have been worthy of the accolade following the Magpies’ 2-0 triumph.

The win takes the Magpies up to eighth in Blue Square Bet South and Simkin reckons that with 49 points the club should now be safe from any threat of relegation.

He said: “I was delighted with our performance and I really can’t see us going down now.

“We got all three points and I thought we were the better side over the 90 minutes.

“There were a lot of really good performances and it’s hard to pick anybody for man of the match. Neil deserved it but so did a lot of others.

“Steve Walker was absolutely outstanding, Jake Smeeton was excellent, Harry Bell quietly gets on with his job and that was the Nick Crittenden of old.”

The match marked Jamie Gleeson’s 300th appearance for the club and Simkin added: “Lewis Morgan and Jamie Gleeson ran the game in midfield.

“We were always going to miss a player of Ashley Nicholls’s quality but Glees took on his mantle and came into his own.”
