PROPOSALS for the community ownership of Dorchester Town Football Club are to be put to the public.

The Community Trust, the organisation looking to take on the majority shareholding from chairman Shaun Hearn, will gauge the levels of support for the initiative.

A date and venue for the public meeting have not been revealed yet but are expected to be announced shortly.

The proposals have been a hot topic of discussion among supporters and on internet forums since they were announced in January.

Since then the community trust has strengthened its board with the addition of five new members including Hearn and club director Matt Lucas.

Dorchester Town Youth Football Club committee members Keith Legg, Simon Light and Jon White have also joined the new-look trust board – the youth set-up is also involved in the proposed community-owned club.

A trust statement read: “The newly-extended trust board will shortly present proposals for the community ownership of the football club to a public meeting, to gauge the extent of community support for this initiative.

“The level of community support could determine the future of the football club and so trust members will be encouraged to attend.”

Meanwhile, trust treasurer Neal Butter-worth, youth club chairman Lloyd Sprack-len and youth club president Dave Read will be shadowing the current club board while current share transfer talks pro-gress.
