'We are in this together,' said Weymouth's Jason Tindall and Trevor Challis after Saturday's last-gasp draw with Burton Albion.

Challis' commitment to the Terras' cause is outstanding, summed up by Tindall.

The Terras' player-manager said: "One thing with Trevor is you know what you are going to get week-in week-out. He is like Ashley Vickers - he would put his head in front of a train if it passed him."

Challis returned from injury for Saturday's 1-1 draw with the Brewers, taking the place of Vickers, who was suspended, as well as the captain's armband. He played out of position in the centre of defence, but was never beaten, even in the air, despite being shorter than most centre forwards.

"It is a position I played for a time when I was at Telford United," said Challis. "It is a good position to play because you can compete and that is what I think I can bring to a side.

"I compete and put myself around and probably get on the opposition's nerves. A bit like Ashley Vickers really, he is exactly the same and you will probably be calling me mini-Ash."

Burton manager Nigel Clough praised Challis and the depleted Terras' squad after Saturday's game.

The former Liverpool player said: "Considering the amount of players they have lost it just shows the strength of the squad that they had here before. They have still got the likes of Tony James and Trevor Challis at centre half - two of the best players in the league."

Challis' reputation precedes him and he had offers to move on when the Terras' financial plight emerged last month.

However, he was never going to desert the Wessex Stadium. "We all had a couple of offers each from clubs," he said.
