WEYMOUTH has announced a new start time for their Friday night meetings at the Wessex Stadium.

Tapes up for the forthcoming season have been brought forward by 15 minutes to 7.15pm.

Doonans Wildcats' chairman Phil Bartlett said: "One of the conditions we put forward when applying for planning approval was that we would bring the curfew forward from 10pm to 9.30pm. We decided to bring the start time forward to allow more time for the younger riders to compete in our second-half rides.

"The club take the development of youth riders very seriously and by bringing the start time forward we will enable them to get some valuable track time and that all-important racing experience."

The Wildcats have also revealed that when they race away to Boston and Plymouth on a Friday evening the home meeting will be moved to the Saturday with a start time of 7pm. The switch has to be made because Boston and Plymouth have seniority over Weymouth due to planning restrictions.

Wildcats' commercial director Robin Spicer said: "These Saturday night meetings will be family fun nights which will incorporate a bouncy castle, face painting, kids' photographs with the riders and games.

"Families can purchase a special all-in-one family ticket for just £30 (a saving of approximately £15) for these Saturday meetings.

The ticket includes admission for a family of four, a snack for all the family, a drink for mum and dad from the Cats Whiskers Bar, soft drinks for children and a matchday programme."

The Wildcats will begin their campaign with a special meeting against the USA Dream Team on Friday, April 6.
