WEYMOUTH player-manager Jason Tindall and chief executive Gary Calder received huge praise at the club's AGM.

The meeting was held at the Wessex Stadium after Saturday's 3-1 success over Tamworth and chairman Martyn Harrison was keen to point out the positive steps that the club has made over the past couple of months.

He said: "Since January when I said I just could not continue putting the amount of money I was putting in there have been a lot of rumours and speculation about what might happen.

"I said at the time that I would make sure that the club got through this season and that we would retain our place in Conference National. Now we have got to rebuild for next year and we have got to do it sensibly.

"Jason Tindall has been tremendous. We are still getting 1,300 plus through the gate and the football we are playing at the moment is very good. He understands the game, he knows young people and has a lot of contacts and with the right support I am sure we can progress from here."

Of Calder, Harrison said: "If it had not been for the chief executive then none of us would be here now." That comment was greeted by applause from the floor.

Despite outlining the positives, there are still huge question marks hanging over the club's future in terms of ownership and the state of its finances.

Harrison said: "Like I have said before I got carried away but the fact that we have had the cup games, got promoted and are now eighth in the Conference is an achievement in itself. But what I have got to do now is make sure the club is safe and secure.

"I have been talking to a lot of people and I am searching for help and assistance. It is time now for a group of people collectively to get together and sort out how we go forward. I can't keep this show on the road on my own.

"I have spoken to people who are interested in taking over the club but none of them are in any better position than what I am."

Harrison also revealed that the budget for the team is now half of what it was before financial cuts were made in January and that Conal Platt, Danny Phillips and Adam Cottrell cost less in wages than what goalkeeper Matt Baker was on before his loan move to Rushden & Diamonds. He also made clear his desire to keep hold of star striker Stuart Beavon.
