WEYMOUTH Football Club held its AGM on Saturday and it was good to hear people showing their support for the club and focusing on the positive steps that have been taken over the past couple of months.

Chairman Martyn Harrison once again admitted that he had got carried away in terms of spending but also said that it was now time for the Radipole Lane outfit to move on and focus on generating a safe and secure future.

The work that has been carried out by manager Jason Tindall and his players, chief executive Gary Calder, commercial manager Ken Wilde and the rest of the staff at the Wessex Stadium since financial cut backs were made in January has been fantastic and they all should be applauded.

Harrison also deserves praise. He could have easily pulled the plug but he has faced his responsibilities and is working hard to sort out the problems that still face the club.

I would like to urge people to keep supporting the initiatives that are being put into place and to stay patient. The last thing the club needs is to make a rash decision for a short-term fix.

Tindall has expressed his wish to be at the Wessex Stadium for the long-term and to develop a structure that will provide sustained success. He now needs the right backing and that will take time to find.

My only gripe that came from the AGM was when Harrison said that the Dorset Echo has an "agenda" and that he was "misquoted" in the newspaper last Wednesday in regards to opening contract talks with Tindall.

The Dorset Echo sponsored Saturday's game and will always strive to give a balanced view both in terms of on and off-the-field issues, and many pages a week are dedicated to the Terras.

As for saying he was misquoted that was very disappointing. I have the notes to prove that what was put in the report is what he said when I spoke to him last Tuesday.
