JURASSIC COAST RAPTORS 23 MAIDSTONE PUMAS 6
THE Raptors won the final game of their associate season against Maidstone Pumas.
A strong Raptors’ defence made life hard for Maidstone all game long and a turnover gave the hosts the ball close to the visitors’ line.
Raptors’ Dan Legge took advantage and ran the ball in for six points. Stephen Bundy later added a field goal, meaning the Raptors were 9-0 up at the end of the half.
The home side put together some strong drives in the third quarter and one ended in quarterback Tom Davis throwing to Chris Cole for a touchdown.
Tim Smith played well for the Raptors as he put in some long punt returns and also converted a fourth down.
In the last quarter, one of his punts pinned Maidstone back and he then intercepted for a touchdown. Bundy converted to make it 23-0.
The Raptors’ defence, which had made life tough for Maidstone all day, conceded a late touchdown from Lewis Stevens after a spirited goal-line stand.
- The Dorchester-based Raptors will be hosting a number of rookie days over the coming months. The team is also set to hold a thanksgiving meal with a prize draw to coincide with NFL games being shown on television.
