LEGENDS 113-3 beat CANFORD SCHOOL OUTCASTS 111-9 by seven wickets

SUPERB batting by Hugh Rathbone, Oliver Newton and David Lester helped the Legends to a fine Twenty20 win at Canford School.

The Legends got home with six overs to spare after some fine bowling by Grant Vink (2-27) and Will McKay (2-12) had reduced the hosts to a low first innings total.

Legends chairman Owen Newton said: "It was a great game played in a beautiful setting with Legend players coming from all areas of Dorset to help raise funds for youth cricket.

"Again young and old came together for the betterment of the game."

The Legends elected to field on a grassy but flat wicket and the hosts got off to an encouraging start but tight bowling by Vink and McKay soon pulled the away side back into it.

Matt Polter showed some spirited resistance but the all-round experience and consistency of the Legends bowlers proved too much to handle, as the Outcasts were left on 111-9 at the conclusion of their innings.

In reply, Rathbone (25), Newton (22 not out) and Lester (20) led the fight for the Legends and their initial onslaught was enough to lead the visitors to a comfortable win as the hosts struggled to claim wickets.
