WEYMOUTH V PARLEY

WEYMOUTH skipper Dean Janaway will be asking for more of the same from his side when they host Parley at Redlands tomorrow in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League (2pm).

The Seasiders got their campaign off to a flier with a fine win at Wimborne & Colehill last week and they are keen to build on that with victory in their first home league match.

Janaway said: "We will be fielding exactly the same side and I will be looking for the same work ethic and commitment from everyone. If we do that then we won't go far wrong.

"Last Saturday the whole atmosphere at the club was superb. All our teams won and we all met up and it was great. Everyone is enthusiastic and enjoying it, and when that happens it usually brings good results."

The Seasiders certainly have a lot more strength-in-depth this season and Janaway believes that will benefit his side more and more as the season progresses.

He said: "People have got to perform now because there are others waiting for their chance. We have not had that for a few years. Over the past few seasons the first team picked itself but that is now not the case.

"Over the coming weeks even more people will become available and that will mean everyone will be playing for their place."

Paul Payne cracked 79 and took 3-21 at Wimborne and Janaway is hoping the former captain can continue that form tomorrow.

He said: "Parley are always strong and they usually have a good overseas player so we will have to perform well.

"Paul was brilliant last week and hopefully he can keep that going all season. The other good thing about last week was the performance in the field. The effort was brilliant and we need to continue that."

Weymouth: Ryall, Janaway, England, Payne, D Pearce, Steadman, Fulton, Mugridge, Nobbs, Whyte, M Pearce.

Weymouth Seconds make three changes for their trip to Shroton in Dorset League Division Two.

Chris Lawes, Gary Pittman and Gavin Lamb are unavailable and will be replaced by skipper Steve Budd, Mark Wooldridge and Dan Hutchens.

Budd, who did not play in last week's win over Hamworthy Recreation due to fitness, said: "Chris Lawes is working, Gary Pittman is away and it is Gavin Lamb's birthday so myself, Mark Wooldridge and Dan Hutchens will all come in but I will probably not bowl."

Weymouth II: Jarvis, Armfield, Belt, Doidge, McKay, Budd, Wooldridge, Trotter, Walton, Hutchens, Voss.
