BEAMINSTER skipper Richard Bugler says morale at the Memorial Ground is still very high despite three consecutive Dorset Funeral Plan League Division One defeats.

The opening batsman says his men are looking forward to the trip to Broadstone tomorrow (2pm).

And explained that they are desperate to put confidence crushing defeats at the hands of Stalbridge and Dorchester firmly behind them.

"We are still confident and keen to get that first win under our belt," said the captain.

"Two last over defeats, against the odds, obviously knocks you back a bit but we are up for it."

Beaminster will be looking to learn from the mistakes that Bridport made against Broadstone last weekend.

The bowling attack, led by Simon Jones but without Matt Hansford and the injured Murray Legg, should prove too strong for the hosts.

But if they take their foot off the gas at any stage the Broadstone lower order will be waiting to pounce just as they did against Bridport.

Bugler is under no illusions that his men have to lift their game after a disappointing start to the season.

But he is confident that he has the players with which to kick-start their campaign.

"We just have to do better," said Bugler. "although we are struggling a bit this week. We have no Matt Hansford, no Murray Legg, who has broken his arm, and Ben Freke is unavailable.

"That said we have still got some good players coming through. Joe Hawkins is going to be coming in and I am still to decide on the others."

Good performances from Stuart Lindsay and Julian Davies in the second team have caught the eye but both men have ruled themselves out of the trip to Broadstone.

"Stuart has decided he wants to stay in the seconds as has Julian, who is preferring it down there," said the skipper.
