DORCHESTER are sweating on the fitness of two of their star players ahead of tomorrow's Dorset Funeral Plan League Division Two clash at the Rec (2pm).

Pete Moxom is struggling with an ankle problem and Rob Waite has a groin injury. Both men suffered their setbacks at Swanage last Saturday where the county town side captured a fine 121-run victory.

Dorchester captain Mark Derrien said: "We have got a strange situation this week because we do not know our team yet due to a couple of injuries.

"Pete Moxom is an opening batsman and a back-up bowler and he twisted his ankle last week and is due to have a fitness test later today.

"Our opening bowler Rob Waite is the other doubt. He has a groin strain and is not sure if he can bowl. If he doesn't he will play as a batsman.

"We have picked a squad of nine or ten but we might have to get more bowling back-up from the seconds with Alex Campbell maybe getting his chance.

"But if Pete and Rob are both available then we will probably strengthen our batting by bringing in Regan Coward.

"He is only 16 but he has had a couple of good knocks in the second team and is great in the field.

"Charlie Sutton, who is another bowler, is unavailable and Martin Langford will make his first-team debut after two centuries for the seconds. Where he bats will depend on Pete Moxom."

Bournemouth Seconds have won two out three so far this season, claiming victories over Wimborne/Colehill Seconds and Marnhull in the last two weeks.

Derrien said: "We played them on the opening day of last season and we ended up coming up against their first team. They had eight Minor Counties players in their side that day and walloped us, which was a bit upsetting.

"We won't be facing that team this time but they have won their last two so we know it is going to be a tough game.

"Normally we would expect to beat them but potentially we could be missing three bowlers.

"So we are not as strong as we would like going into this game but we have been looking good with the bat and I am sure the lads will put on good performance."
