BRIDPORT skipper Paul Tweddle has been called up for his Dorset one-day debut against Berkshire at Dean Park on Monday (11am).

The wicketkeeper-batsman replaces experienced Tim Lamb, who was behind the stumps during Dorset's four-wicket defeat against Cornwall in their previous match.

Tweddle, who has made three championship appearances for Dorset, will also line up against Wales on June 3 in what could be a MCCA Trophy group three decider.

Wales currently head the table on superior run rate from Devon, after their clash was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Dorset manager Sean Walbridge said: "Our regular wicketkeeper Chris Park is still not 100 per cent fit following a thumb injury.

"Although Tim was available for the Berkshire game, he was unavailable for the Wales match, so we felt it would be better to have a bit of continuity and give Paul a chance, so he will play in both games.

"We want him to show us what he can do. He has to be ambitious and use both games to show he is more than capable of replacing Chris or Tim.

"Paul has come through our Development XI and made his championship bow for us in 2005 against Cornwall at Dean Park.

"We're sure he can do a fine job for us and put pressure on Parkie and Lamby for a regular team place."

With Ziggy Arshad sidelined with four fractured toes sustained while playing for Broadstone, seamer Phil Lewis gets a recall for his first Dorset game this season after shrugging off a back problem.

Walbridge will be checking with Dan Belt, who took eight wickets for 28 for Weymouth Seconds at Witchampton last weekend, what his injury situation is.

Belt, one of Dorset's top bowlers, was thought last month to have been sidelined from bowling for most of the season with a serious back injury.
