WEYMOUTH player-boss Jason Tindall has praised his players for the "loyalty" they are currently showing the club.

The 29-year-old has admitted that some of his men have concrete offers on the table from "bigger clubs" but they are waiting to see what happens at the Terras before making a final decision on where they will ply their trade next season.

Tindall said: "Each day that passes we are getting closer to pre-season. We return to training at the start of July and that means we are not going to have much time to do things and that is why I will be talking to the players this week and trying to put something to them working to a minimum budget.

"If we can get some of the players tied up then it would be a little step forward and it would give everyone a boost.

"We have already lost Tony James who got a good offer from elsewhere that was right for him at a time when we could not put anything to him but at the moment he is the only one.

"I know there is a lot of interest in a few of the other players but at the moment they are showing a bit of loyalty to me by saying they want to wait and see what is happening here.

"I am in regular contact with the lads and some of the offers on the table for a few of them are from bigger clubs but they want to stay at Weymouth.

"How long they are prepared to wait I do not know and that is why it is hugely important to me and to the football club that we get something sorted soon.

"The one thing in my favour is that all of the players know what I am about. They know the way I want to play football and most of them want to be a part of it down here."

When asked how the ongoing take-over talks are progressing, Tindall said: "I know it seems we keep saying the same thing but I should imagine whatever the deal is, it can't be too far away from happening because it has been going on a very long time. Once it is done it will allow us to start cracking on ."

Tindall has his eyes set on several new acquisitions and that is another reason why he wants to see the club's financial position resolved as soon as possible. He said: "There are going to be a lot of players available who have been released from professional clubs but the better players will not be hanging around for too much longer."

The Terras have arranged a pre-season friendly with Coca-Cola League One side AFC Bournemouth at the Wessex Stadium on Tuesday, July 17 (7.45pm).
