LOANEE Joe Lea insisted he wants to contribute with goals and assists as he got his first full start for Dorchester Town in their 3-0 victory over Frome Town on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old Yeovil Town attacking midfielder had a solid impact on the game, having signed a month-long loan deal with the Magpies on Friday and he now wants to push on.
Speaking after the game, he told Echosport: “I really enjoyed it. It’s great to get three points in your first start. It’s good to get some game time.
“I’ve spoke to Ollie (Bassett) and he said it was great so when the chance came to come here, I didn’t hesitate. It’s a good club and I know he wants to come back.”
Asked what he wants to achieve at the Avenue, Lea remarked: “I want to play well. I look at the league table and I really think we can push on and move up the table.
“Over the next two or three games I want to be contributing with goals and assists and getting wins on the board.”
Lea played for Yeovil at Goodison Park back in August and admits it was a different type of occasion against the Robins.
He added: “It was a different experience. I’ve been a bit frustrated because I haven’t been getting on the pitch much for Yeovil. But, I’ve had some great experiences there for an 18-year-old.
“Coming here, it helps me as a player and a person. It’s important to play the men’s game.”
n Nathan Walker won the August and September player of the month award after spearheading the Magpies’ attack. He is the Magpies’ top scorer with six goals.
