The Weymouth Sunday Football League has secured sponsorship for next season with a well-known national brand name.

The news emerged as officials met for the league's annual AGM at the Weymouth Working Men's Club.

It is believed Domino's Pizzas will be helping the league's coffers to the tune of £1,400 as chairman Mark Cottingham was able to negotiate a full deal whereby Domino's will put it's name to both first and second divisions as well as associated cup competitions.

There will be at least two new teams playing in the second tier next term - both the Queen's Hotel, who last graced the league some 15 years ago, and the Duke of Albany were voted in - while the New George (Dorchester) still hope to be included if a team drops out before the opening day.

As usual there were a handful of name changes to report, this time all in the top flight.

Portlanders the Kimberlin will be moving to the New Inn, the Weymouth Working Men's Club move out of town to the Royal Oak at Lodmoor while Weymouth Saints have transferred to the Kingswood.

Registration League secretaries voted overwhelmingly to maintain the league structure as two divisions of 12 teams while an amendment to an existing rule sees a fine of £100 (instead of £20) imposed on a club that withdraws from the league after the June 1 registration date.

Furthermore, in future no elected member of the league's management com-mittee may be able to hold a position of secretary with a member club while next season all outstanding monies by each club will have to be paid in full by the date of the AGM to secure inclusion in the following season's league set-up.

The election of officers saw no changes although there is a vacancy still to be filled with regards to the vice-chairman's role.

The first game of the new season will be the annual Shaun Taylor Charity Shield contest on Sunday, August 26, between league champions the Belvedere and cup winners the Black Dog at a venue still to be decided.

Naturally the season proper begins a week later on Sunday, September 2 with the first league meeting held a fortnight earlier on August 19 (7.30pm).

In other business league fees were set at £200 for the season or two instalments of £105 - the first due on July 1.
