STAR striker Stuart Beavon and midfielder Danny Phillips have become the latest players to commit to Weymouth for next season.

Several clubs have been chasing the pair since the end of the last campaign and Terras' boss Jason Tindall is absolutely delighted that both of them have decided to pen one-year deals at the Wessex Stadium.

Beavon became an instant hit with the Weymouth faithful when he scored five goals in his first six starts for the club after joining in January and over the past few months many people thought the club was destined to lose him.

Tindall said: "There has been a lot of interest in Stuart Beavon and rightly so. He is a fantastic player and I think anyone who has seen him play will agree with that.

"I see all these strikers in our league getting so much money and I have played against a lot of them, and in my mind Stuart Beavon is head and shoulders above the majority of them.

"I have spoken closely with him a lot over the past few months and I told him that I would make sure he was okay if things worked out here.

"The fact that he has now signed is fantastic, there have been a lot of teams waiting to pounce."

Tindall believes the sky is the limit for Beavon especially if he can reproduce the impressive form he showed towards the end of last season.

He added: "If Stuart produces the same kind of form as he did last season I can't see him being here too long for someone will definitely come in and pay money to get him. To keep hold of him is a massive plus for me and the club."

Phillips also continues to gain glowing praise from his boss.

Tindall said: "I was lucky enough to play with Danny before he came to Weymouth and that is one of the reasons why I was so keen to get him in.

"Ability-wise and talent-wise there is no one better in our league. Some of the things he does in training can make everyone stand with their mouths wide open and if he was 5ft 10in tall he would be playing in the Premiership.

"But I am not concerned about his height. He is a fantastic lad and a very talented player, and to get him in is a credit to the football club."

The Terras have withdrawn their second string from the Pontin's Holidays Combination Wales & West Division.

Weymouth chief executive Gary Calder said: "Jason Tindall has already come to that decision and instead friendlies will be organised throughout the season."

n Season tickets have been selling well at the Wessex Stadium. On the first day they went on sale the club sold more than £7,000 worth.

The annual Early Bird season ticket offer will run to 5pm on July 13 and contains big savings.

All prices have been held and pre-season friendlies are included. There is also a new season ticket and matchday entry for students.
