SKIPPER Chris Park is already looking forward to Dorset’s scheduled T20 showdown with Somerset this summer.

The fixture between the two sides was confirmed to Echosport by the Minor Counties captain and is set to take place on Tuesday, July 11, at North Perrott Cricket Club – one of a number of venues Dorset plan to use during the upcoming campaign.

Park, whose squad begin their winter training programme on Sunday, insisted it was the contacts of Dorset coach Paul Prichard that has made the event possible.

He told Echosport: “To have a T20 game on a Tuesday night in the middle of the summer against a Somerset side, is all down to the friendship of Matt Maynard (Somerset director of cricket) and Paul Prichard.

“It’s a great exercise for Somerset during their T20 planning and a great fixture for us to play against a professional side again.

“I am looking forward to it already.”

Park also confirmed that he is set to stay on as Dorset captain, with Prichard as coach of the side for the 2017 season.

Dorset are set to play competitive cricket at North Perrott, Bashley, Sherborne School and Chapel Gate this summer.
