TOMORROW sees the Dorchester first XV get back to league when they visit North Dorset Seconds in Dorset & Wilts One South (2.15pm).

Following the county town side’s recent strong performance against Weymouth & Portland, the players and coaches are determined to keep the momentum going.

This is an important game for the team and with the club’s coaches expecting nothing but a five-point win, the Coburg Road side could climb the table to fourth if other results go their way.

With the mood in the squad very positive and coaches Ben Parker and Rich Bament seeing the effort from training paying off, hopes for a strong second half to the season are building.

The coaches said: “Training since our return after the festive break has been fantastic with large numbers training and competition for places. The whole atmosphere is positive and this shows in player performances.

“Selection was difficult this week but in a positive way. With new players turning out to train each week, our senior squad is steadily growing.

“This, combined with several second team players being closely watched to step up to first-team places, means the club is heading in the right direction.”

With a strong squad named to travel to North Dorset the forward pack are looking a formidable asset. Strong ball carrying comes from James Newsam, Lee King and Steve Tucker and the platform is sure to be there for the backs to finish strongly.

Jake Bosher returns to the first XV following his concussion. With Zak Paton and Matt Read also returning to the side, there should be pace out wide.

Fresh from their Dorset & Wilts Shield semi-final win, the club’s second XV take on Lytchett Minster at Coburg Road (2.15pm).

After a fine performance in a friendly last Friday, Sandy Sanderson makes his second-team debut looking to hit the same form. Nathan Fox also makes his debut for the club with many players catching the coaches’ eyes for a first-team slot.
