THREE Weymouth kickboxers are aiming to become champions of Europe.

The King Tiger Thai Boxing Club have their top fighters bidding for European titles in Birmingham this weekend.

British champions Dan Webb, 19 (super middleweight) and Vicki Rogers, 22 (featherweight) will be fighting top class fighters from Holland while undefeated Jo Edwards, 18 (middleweight) takes on one of Poland's top stars.

The trio have to pay to fly the Eastern European challengers over to this country.

Rogers and Webb have already raised sufficient sponsorship to fund the trips of their rivals but Edwards is still short of funds and faces losing his shot at the title.

The Weymouth fighters' bouts against their continental counterparts are for official European titles endorsed by the World Kickboxing Association on Sunday.

The fighters are trained by Tom Ashe who, in 11 years of running the Thai Boxing Club, has produced more than 50 champions at all levels up to the rank of world champion.

The trio normally train twice a week with Ashe but he has been stepping up their regimes to prepare them for their big title fights.

He is confident the hard work will pay off and victories will see the kickboxers push on to the next level.

"Hopefully world champion will be the next step for one of these three."

Also, on the undercard, Rachel Webb, 14, competes for the girls' British junior title.

All matches will be fought under full rules (no pads) over five rounds.
