WEYMOUTH driver Sam Webster's karting career is continuing to blossom.

The youngster has broke two lap records and won three first-place trophies in recent times and he continues to lead the Club Championship at his local track at Clay Pigeon, which is situated between Dorchester and Yeovil.

Webster's last success came at the Shennington Superprix Event, in Oxfordshire, but he did suffer disappointment at the latest round of the Super 1 Championships where a mechanical failure cost him dearly.

An item costing less than a pound let him down while he was lying in fourth spot in the first of three heats but he still showed great character to bounce back.

Two excellent drives put him in 17th position on the grid for the start of the final in which he finished 13th.

Webster's father Graham said: "Without that failure Sam would have been in the top ten for the final. A better result from further up the grid could have seen us knocking on the door of a top-ten position in the national standings. As it is we have dropped to 18th."

The next national round is at Shennington where Watkins recently took a massive chunk off the lap record reducing it from 51.01 seconds to 50.79 seconds.
