SWANAGE & WAREHAM II 30
WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 17
WEYMOUTH & Portland found themselves undone at the hands of Swanage & Wareham Seconds, recording their seventh loss in the process in Dorset & Wilts One South.
The Seasiders found their squad stretched on the afternoon and had to rely on calling up players from the club’s second team to boost their numbers.
Despite tries for Sean Murphy, George Carter and Ben Davis, with skipper Ryan Lewendon adding a conversion, the visitors were powerless to prevent the Swans surging to a relatively comfortable triumph.
The reverse had Weymouth & Portland team manager Vaughan Carter scratching his head.
He said: “Individually as players I would say we were equal, but the Swans were the better side and seemed to be up for it more than we were.
“We had to call up a few second-team lads but I would not point the finger at them for a below-par performance, against a side we comfortably beat at home a couple of months ago.”
The defeat leaves Weymouth & Portland fifth in the league table with 55 points from 19 games – one place below rivals Dorchester.
