BRIDPORT recorded their second Read Woodruff Dorchester and District Evening League victory in the space of 48 hours.

The Brewery Ground outfit followed up a 28-run triumph over Dorchester Youth with a 35-run win against Puddletown.

Batting first Bridport lost Mark Tozer early before Dave Herbert and Rob Atkins shared 63 runs for the second wicket.

Herbert hit one maximum before he was clean bowled, which brought Bridport new boy Danny Dancer to the crease.

Dancer and Atkins added 41 for the next wicket with the latter dominating proceedings with four sixes in the space of 15 deliveries.

Atkins was finally caught for 61 leaving Chris Backhouse (34) and Mark Smith (16) to continue the assault and push the score past 150.

Chasing 181 the Puddletown reply never got going. Terry Field (2-28) bowled superbly early on before Martin Rowe came on first change and stole the show.

He took 3-15 in three overs to extinguish any hope Puddletown had of a triumph. They finished 35 runs short.

Meanwhile Herrison Youth (108-2) moved into third place after beating Bere Regis (107-7).

In Division Two Cattistock maintained their two-point lead after beating Hazelbury Bryan (73-9).
