DORCHESTER Cricket Club's Callum Tucker put on a fantastic all-round display to help the South of England cruise to a comfortable victory over the North of England at the home of Yorkshire Cricket Club.

Due to rain the match had to be switched from the Headingley square to an indoor facility but that did not dampen the spirits of all the players in action.

The clash was reduced from 40 overs to a Twenty20 format and after winning the toss it was the North of England who took to the crease first.

Dorset duo Chant and Tucker took three wickets between them with the latter ending with figures of 2-8. That helped their side dismiss the North of England in the last over for 91.

In reply, opening batsman Tucker then knocked 26 not out before skipper Mark Pickersgill hit the winning runs with just two wickets down.

The Dorset trio all received commemorative medallions to represent their winning achievements.

Tucker's father Peter said: "The trip to Headingley took over seven hours but it was well worth it and all three Dorset players performed superbly."

Dorset's next league match is on Sunday, when they take on Wales at Compton House near Sherborne (2pm start).

Spectators are very welcome.
