WEYMOUTH Gig Rowing Club competed in the Isles of Scilly world gig championships achieving some excellent results.
They were competing with rowers from as far as Holland, Bermuda and the USA.
The highlight of the event came on day one as the ladies super vets team fought hard to achieve a fifth place finish, with the veteran ladies coming 10th and 32nd in a field of 50, and the mens vets coming 18th and 35th.
The ladies’ A crew stormed through their race to achieve a 21st place finish out of 148 competitors, while the ladies B and C crews finished 62nd and 84th respectively.
In the men’s A event they achieved a 55th place finish, while the men’s B crew held a clear lead to secure a place on the podium.
