RNSTS skipper Martin Hewson has branded his side the underdogs ahead of tonight's Echo Cup final against the Bridge Inn Bears at Redlands (6.30pm).

But he is also adamant that his star men Jason Styles, Gary Randall, Dave Trotter, Martyn Richards and Pete Moxom possess the individual talent to produce an upset.

Hewson said: "The Bridge Inn Bears are very strong.

"We know their team very well because most of them play for Weymouth firsts and seconds, and they have some phenomenal players but although we are the underdogs we have a lot of potential match winners so it should be an interesting game.

"Our team is a bit of a dad's army. We have got a lot of older players and a few youngsters and for some of them this will probably be their swansong.

"The club has been in evening league cricket for 24 years so to win tonight would be a fantastic way to send it into its 25th anniversary."

RNSTS are at full strength for the clash.

Hewson added: "We have got 14 to 15 players and we have selected the team from them. For those who end up missing out it is very unfortunate but they are still a very important part of the squad."

Bridge Inn Bears (170-4) defeated the Giant Pot (106-6) last night at Redlands to reach the final and they are looking forward to locking horns with Hewson's men.

Bears' skipper Bill Trevett said: "We are all very much looking forward to the final. We played in it last year against the Saggies and won it and we would like to keep hold of the trophy.

"RNSTS have got a lot of experienced players whereas we are a bit younger so it should be an intriguing game.

"They have got players like Pete Moxom, Martyn Richards and Gary Randall whereas we have lads like Dean Janaway, Paul Payne and Jon Dixon. It promises to be a great match."

Chris Lawes is unavailable for tonight's clash for the Bears due to work commitments.
