DORCHESTER club captain Stacey Dickinson will be chasing three titles during the Waitrose EBA Championships next month.

The Dorset Middleton Cup skip travels to Worthing for the fours, triples and Champion of Champion singles.

Having qualified in the fours earlier this month Dickinson booked his ticket to the last eight of the Champion of Champions by winning the regional final at Atherley, Southampton, and teamed up with Nick Voss and Martin Pavey to sail through in the triples by monopolising the Dorset semi-final at Poole Park.

At Atherley, Dickinson overcame a 10-5 deficit to defeat Isle of Wight's John Marsh (Shanklin) 21-18 and then gave short shrift to reigning champion Leo May (Pyestock), sinking the Hampshire skip 21-8.

In a dramatic final against England triallist Graham Hath-erall (Westlecot, Swindon) Dickin-son built a healthy advantage until his lead was slashed to 19-18. Hatherall held three shots for game but with his final bowl Dickinson reduced the count to two - and on the last end planted two shots within 10 inches of the jack to seal a 21-20 triumph.

In their delayed triples semi-final Dorchester quickly dominated David Baxter, Alan Miller and Peter Willats. With a five and seven Dickinson led 16-3 at five ends and he coasted through 27-6, the Alexandra Park men conceding on 13 ends.

Dorset qualifiers in the pairs are Derick Gray and Kevin Walbridge from Greenhill and Lyme Regis duo Paul Pomeroy and Mike Preston.

Playing at Poole Park the Greenhill couple earned their Sussex place with a 19-12 semi-final success against Brian and Craig Shepherd (Wimborne) who had caused an upset in the morning quarter-finals by knocking out the other Greenhill representatives John Crabb and Barry Patterson 18-17.

Pomeroy and Preston - the 2006 Dorset singles champion - disposed of Alan Trevett and Mike Stapleton (Alexandra Park) 24-20 in the quarter-finals before inching past Alec McKenzie and Bob Atkins (Poole Park) 20-19.

Poole had earlier ousted Chris Thorne and John Hooper (Bridport) 20-18 while Gray and Walbridge had overcome Richard Brown and Frank Hall (Blandford) 25-16.

Greenhill B's marvellous run in the EBA Top Club Championship is over. Their weakened side fell 4-1 to Westlecot at Swindon, the consolation coming from John Hodder, Tony Colton, Walbridge and Doug Obee 19-17 in the fours against former England bowler Mel Biggs.

Dave Mitchell (two-woods, 18-6) and Steve Gait (four-woods, 21-20) lost the singles while Pat Rod and Warwick Brown (pairs, 34-5) and Peter Brown, StJ Corben and John Avant (triples, 21-12) were also beaten.

Dorchester will meet Branksome Park in the Dorset Cup on September 2 after two dramatic semi-finals. Full report next week.
