WEYMOUTH THIRDS 164 all-out (8) lost to CHRISTCHURCH 166-9 (20) by one wicket

WEYMOUTH Thirds' skipper Craig Johnson described his side's Dorset Funeral Plan League Division Four defeat at Redlands at the hands of title-contenders Christchurch as an "absolute sickener."

The visitors, who moved to the summit thanks to this result, reached their target with just four balls to spare after the Seasiders had reduced them to 130-9.

Teenagers Galloway (20 not out) and Young (10 not out) were their heroes and Johnson was the first to praise their partnership.

He said: "They both played really well. They took no risks and won their side the game but for us it was an absolute sickener.

"To lose like that is so disappointing and afterwards everyone was devastated.

"That leaves us still second from bottom and in serious danger of going down."

Neil Walton was particularly unfortunate to be on the losing side. The talented all-rounder scored 37 before taking 2-39 from his 12 overs with the ball.

Graham Condell (30) and Bill Trevett (34 not out) also batted well for the hosts, whose other wicket-takers were Luke Carrington (3-32), John Ryan (2-39) and Don White (1-33).
