DORCHESTER'S director of football Shaun Brooks says he hasn't made any decisions yet on the futures of the Magpies' current trialists, despite impressive performances in the team's first friendly on Tuesday.

The county town side defeated Ringwood Town, of the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League, with a comfortable 3-0 display.

Both ex-Fulham trainee Elliot Bent and former Gillingham player Jones Awuah netted for the county town side, while ex-Bournemouth trainee Aidan Sainsbury, former Southampton Youth keeper Ashlee Jones, England schoolboy international Lewis Irish and Jamie Whisken, who spent last season at Farnborough Town, also featured.

Yet Brooks is keen to give the players more time before making a decision.

He said: "I haven't decided to take any of the trialists on just yet. I want to see what they can do in the next two games, each against better opposition.

"No disrespect to Ringwood but I want to see the boys up against a tougher side who will make them work harder. Then by the end of the week, after the Totton game, I shall make a decision."

The two goal-scorers did make an impression though.

Brooks added: "Every team needs players who can score goals so I was pleased they both scored. Now I'll see what they can do against better defenders."

Even though the Magpies were up against a weaker side, Brooks was happy enough with what he saw. "Everyone played well, it was a pleasing start especially to score a few goals as well, that's always nice.

"I got what I expected from each player, their attitude was spot on as well. There's a lot of hard work still to be done but we're on the right track."

Tonight's match at Poole Town (7.30pm), who like Ringwood ply their trade in the Wessex Premier, will see Dorchester make changes to Tuesday's line-up, but Brooks says that it will be much of the same.

"We will be chopping and changing again tonight, like I did on Tuesday. I want to see different players in different positions, and how the lads interact with each other."

Striker Awuah is a doubt for the trip to Tatnam Farm after he left the field on Tuesday night following a collision with Ringwood goalkeeper Russell Goodman.

Brooks though is hopeful the 23-year-old will be fit. He said: "Jones picked up a knock to his knee on Tuesday. We'll assess his fitness, but hopefully he will feature."
