JURASSIC opened their Under-16s' South West National League season with a victory in Cornwall.

In the first quarter, Penryn were the quicker team out of the blocks taking the opening points but the Coasters were fast to rectify with Giuseppe Landolfi netting his first points.

Coaster Louis Weaver was keen to follow suit getting points on the board and adding an extra from drawing and converting Penryn's second foul.

The hosts were under pressure and needed to call a time out to steady themselves.

It was then the Coasters turn to feel some pressure but this came from the referee's whistle, hitting team fouls by the sixth minute.

The visiting team kept up their head of steam with points from Owen Leivers and Kieron Scott finishing the quarter 22-17 ahead.

The second period started as the first, with Penryn taking the first points and reduced the Coasters' lead to a single point.

The visitors netted two points with a lay-up from Weaver with Penryn drawing level with a three-pointer from their number 21.

The Coasters were finding this quarter was not going their way with the hosts taking the lead straight after Henry Ackerley had got his name on the scoresheet.

Coach Cat Landolfi regrouped his players with a time-out with Bradley Morgan leading the charge to net his season opening points.

The Coasters went on an 18-4 run taking back the lead and finishing the half 12 points ahead of the hosts.

Into the second half, and it was the Coasters that took the first points.

The Coasters were moving the ball round well and used their plays to free up Luca Trevett, Kevin Tissera and Will Sherlock.

Although the visiting team had extended their lead by the sixth minute of the quarter, they were unable to take another point and allowed the home team to pull it back to 58-46.

In the final quarter, the Dorset team just needed to keep their nerve. Alex Low helped the Coasters in a 6-2 run in the first three minutes of the period. However, Penryn weren’t done and kept the visiting team on their toes for the final minutes, matching basket for basket right up to the buzzer.
