CHARLIE Davis admitted drawing 2-2 in the Ridgeway derby with Dorchester hurt after Weymouth had led 2-0 in the encounter at the Bob Lucas Stadium in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Davis scored in the 39th minute to give the Terras the lead while Brandon Goodship extended the lead in the 62nd minute, but Kyle Egan and Sam Lanahan hit back for the Magpies in the 70th and 77th minute respectively.

Davis said: "I’m bitterly disappointed, disappointed with the performance from us. I think we are a lot better than what we showed today. Disappointed overall to be honest."

Despite scoring in the encounter Davis said: "At the end of the day it is all about the result and what we are striving for this season and we haven’t managed to get that today and it really hurts to be honest."

The team faced windy and rainy weather at the Bob Lucas Stadium and heavy rain, which Davis admitted affected the game.

Davis explained: "I think the wind more than anything kills the game a bit, the rain you can sort of deal with but when the ball is going in the air and you can’t really anticipate where it is going to land or things like that it makes it difficult, but we can’t make any excuses for today."

He admitted the result felt like two points dropped rather than one point gained, saying: "It should be a game that we are looking to get three points in and we should have got three points from the game."

Davis explained that the side will not try and dwell on the performance in the derby with Dorchester, which has seen Weymouth claim four wins and two draws in their last six league matches.

Davis said: "We are always looking forward to the next game and Gosport again we will go there and we will prep right and hopefully get the three points.

"We need to look forward now, we can’t dwell on this game. It is gone now, it is four points from the derby over the course of the year."

Davis’ strike was from the edge of the box which went under Dorchester goalkeeper Chris Weale to give the Terras a 1-0 lead.

Davis said: "It is probably one of the nicest goals I have scored this season so far but it doesn’t amount to anything now, it amounts to one point."

Weymouth are next in action when they face Gosport Borough away on New Year’s Day.
