WEYMOUTH Cricket Club have announced two crunch pre-season friendlies with rivals Dorchester and Portland Red Triangle.

Both matches take place in the space of three days, with the Seasiders hosting Triangle at Redlands on Friday, April 27 in the popular Twenty20 format.

The weekend of derbies concludes with a trip to Dorchester Rec to face old foes Dorchester in a 40-over match on Sunday, April 29.

All three sides will begin their league campaigns on the following weekend, with Dorchester hosting Stalbridge in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League.

Portland Red Triangle, the reigning County Division Two champions, will face Broadstone Seconds away in County Division One, while Weymouth visit Kingston Lacy in County Division Two.

The Seasiders are also holding a race night in a bid to reduce costs for youth players for the upcoming season.

Weymouth are hosting the event at the Famous Old Spa on Saturday, March 3 from 8pm, with guests invited to attend from 5.30pm onwards to watch the Liverpool v Newcastle Premier League game.

Sponsors such as Weymouth Bay 10k Charity Run, Marlboro, Sutton's, CG Energy, the Famous Old Spa and Wetherspoons have already supported one of the eight races scheduled and will have their names featured on the form guides, over PA and on social media.
