DORSET star Jay Lelliott stormed to his first British title in the men’s 400m freestyle at the British Swimming Championships 2018 in Edinburgh.
The 23-year-old Lelliott beat the slow-starting British record holder James Guy to win in 3.50:85.
Lelliott told swimming.org: “It’s always nice to hear the words British champion. I wish it was a bit quicker but I cannot complain too much.”
The Portland ace was over half a second clear of Guy, the 200m butterfly title holder, who finished in 3.51:40 to take the silver with Wales’ Daniel Jervis taking the bronze medal in 3.52:78.
